New Education Director - Bridget O. Lee-Young

Bridget O. Lee-Young has assumed the duties of Education Director for HerbFest, 2008.

The HerbFest whose permananent home is Festival Park is expanding the activities offered at HerbFest. There will be free classes and exhibits on the many aspects of crafting with herbs, landscape gardening, cooking classes, lectures by leading landscape associates and various civic groups. There has always been an overwhelming urge of customers to know as much as they can about how to grow and use the bounty from their herb gardens and now Mrs. Lee-Young is creating the classes for the varied interests of the HerbFest customers.

This is cited by Bob and Elizabeth Johnson, founders of HerbFest, as one of the most important and needed services for the continued success of HerbFest. Bridget brings a strong background in association manangement and is a C.P.A. so she has great analytical strengths. Bridget was very instrumental in the creation and production of the popular "Teen Battle of The Bands" at Festival Park this past year, along with her husband Marc.

Festival Park Gearing Up for HerbFest, 2008

Our facility is starting to look at landscape designs, landscape designers, and landscape architects to help us realize how to xeriscape our property utilizing herbs and perennials in a drought tolerant environment. Due to the drought conditions we've experienced the past year we want to be conscious of our social obligations to our community to wisely use water resources.

Many of the plants will be those available from the Herbfest as one of the major themes this year is drought gardening and landscape management.

At this year's herbfest we will be doing free classes to inform the customers on the hows and whys we chose to landscape as we will at Festival Park.
