There will be free classes and exhibits on the many aspects of crafting with herbs, landscape gardening, cooking classes, lectures by leading landscape associates and various civic groups. There has always been an overwhelming urge of customers to know as much as they can about how to grow and use the bounty from their herb gardens and now Mrs. Lee-Young is creating the classes for the varied interests of the HerbFest customers.

This is cited by Bob and Elizabeth Johnson, founders of HerbFest, as one of the most important and needed services for the continued success of HerbFest. Bridget brings a strong background in association manangement and is a C.P.A. so she has great analytical strengths. In a town with a population of approximately 15,000 people, 3,500 of them actually marched in the Xmas parade. It was one of the largest ever and best attended. The parade itself last over 2 hours and was fun times for all.

The new pathway created by Festival Park proved to be a popular walk for those attending the parade. Many used the "walk in the woods" to come to the parade after parking their cars a block away. The entrance was originally completed for the Battle of The Bands which was a fund raiser for the GJCAE fund.

Homemade Otis Spunkmeyer cookies were given out in the parade to many by Janna Johnson to promote the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment ( GJCAE) and The Cotton Company.

Festival Park is the new home for HerbFest, 2008.

Battle of The Bands Advice on Amps

After last week's performances here is some practical advice on how to sound craft:

http://onstagemag.com/ar/performance_sounding_off/index.htm

Amps and audibility

Hey, all of you younger musicians. One of the hardest things to learn is to keep your amps quiet. After 30 years I still catch myself doing it.

Keep your amp down and let the sound guys control the mix. When you try to participate in controlling the mix the levels rise feed back loops around, someone becomes louder than another...IT"S A MESS! It's simply not possible for us musicians on stage to hear the whole mix or know what's really going on. Listen to your sound man!!!

All of the greats, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Marshall Tucker, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Satrianni, David Gilmore, Angus Young, Brian May, Carlos Santana, Richie Sambora, Kieth Richards, Kirt Hammett and even Slash use little bitty amps and keep the volume low.

I remember the first time I saw Stevie Ray at Constitution Hall. The curtain opened and there was this amp about the size of a lunch box. I was shocked! Then he picked up his guitar and smoked the house and you could hear every note!

Thank you,

Marc Duncan CEI
www.dundeeco.com

Battle of Bands Previews Festival Park in Wake Forest, N.C.

The past weekend was a preview of what is to become the festival gathering place in Wake Forest for bands, Herbfest - http://www.herbfest.net/ , home of the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment, http://www.gjcae.org/ and more art events for the greater RTP community and Northeast quadrant of N.C.

You can see the potential of this venue with the massive indoor area and open bays that will highlite the soon to be gardens and wild fowl strutting around the premises.
